Start Now, Make it Good Later

I saw this testament twice in the last 24 hours so I am taking it as a sign that I should talk about it.

“Just start it now, you can make it good later.”

I know I have talked about it in some TikToks, but this is so real for me. For years, I chronically put off doing things because I felt life I wasn’t ready. Or I would try to do something and my perfectionism convinced me to give up as it wasn’t good enough.

But really, every successful person says the same thing. Simply start… don’t overthink it, don’t critique it, just put it out there. You can keep working on it, you can make it better, you can make it good easily overtime. Just get it out in the world so it can create momentum.

There is something nerve wracking about putting something out there with our name on it that we aren’t 100% proud of. I get it. We’ve been trained to fear embarrassment and lack of perfectionism, every negative comment is like a dagger to the chest. I used to constantly get stomachaches from embarrassment and critiques to the point I could not sleep, even as a kid.

But, as I often say, the only real obstacle in the road to success is you (everything else is a lesson meant to be learned). You feeling cringe, or scared, or embarrassed to not be perfect is a method of self-sabotage that will keep you hiding forever

You have to make the leap now.

Get it out there. The mental block is the hard part, get it out there and acknowledge its a work in progress. Things can be edited and revised and reuploaded and remade. There is no shame in that. Any successful person knows it takes "failures" (though I wouldn't even consider it that) to learn what is necessary to succeed.

Do I think my blog and my podcast are perfect? No way! But, have they been getting better and have I learned more by doing than I ever did by prepping? Absolutely.

So… start now, and make it good later.
