Reflect on your Progress
Comparing yourself to where others are at can be beneficial a small percentage of the time, but usually it’s not worth the potential for limiting and negative self-talk. However, comparing yourself and your progress to past experiences you can be a powerful way to recognize and reflect on your progress.
Today marked a month since I decided to work out every single day. This was the first time that I not only worked out everyday, but also really got in a routine of home workouts.
It would be so easy to compare myself and my progress to fitness gurus or people who have access to a gym membership or a personal trainer. Then, suddenly, my progress will feel abysmal.
Or- I can reflect on how a month and a half ago, I went weeks without a work out. Or 3 months ago when I couldn’t even imagine building muscle at home everyday. I can feel accomplished and proud.
I took before photos and I am so excited today to take 1-month progress shots. Because I have been tracking my process since day 1, I’m more focused on comparing to myself than others, and it’s a good feeling.
When reflecting the on your progress and process, try to be better than your past self and not others. This small chance is a huge mindset shift.
