Go ahead, make it your personality
A common insult these days is when someone makes something their whole personality.
Paul makes being a gym bro his whole personality.
Sarah got a job in fashion and it’s her whole personality.
First off, we know that’s not truly the case. Even if it is primarily what they talk about and do, they still have a huge, multifaceted world within them just waiting for a chance to be recognized.
And secondly, who cares? Are they happy? Are they passionate? And truly… are they harming anyone?
In fact, dare I say, you should make something, and all the things, your personality. The amount of dedication it takes to do something new, feel it with the whole soul, and to make an entire, lifestyle around it is revolutionary.
Since moving to a new state, I have started:
- actively homeschooling
- learning another language
- blogging
- podcasting
- working out
every single day. Those things are my everyday now. They are my goals, my passions, and the foundation of my everyday.
Why wouldn’t I made it I make it my whole personality if every day of my life revolves around them? Yes, I want to talk and post about them. Yes, they bring me joy and fulfillment. Yes, my life has improved since doing them and I want people to know.
And truly, if people care about me, they will be happy I am focusing on positive things as opposed to making being poor my personality, making heartbreak my personality, or making judging people for liking things my personality.
Live and let live.
If it fuels your inner fire, make it part of you.
