When you need a hard reset

There are times in life when we either feel called to completely change our settings or it is forced upon us.

As for me, I am currently going through that. In these first two weeks of the new year which coincided with my pre-launch and launch, I got sick not only once, but twice. My body is demanding attention with my immune system, especially since I am someone who typically only gets sick once a year.

I am being called to reset my habits to shift a focus towards my health and immunity.

It really isn't surprising as I have been so focused on moving cross country and starting this platform. So, I am honouring that call. I am working through the remnants of my sickness, I am doing a sugar detox, eating high protein, anti-inflammatory meals, getting rest, doing yoga, and beginning to find proper movement.

In our house, we call this a hard reset. It is the habitual equivalent to turning something off and back on. We pause, take a hard look at how we have been conducting an aspect of our life, and reorient our structure to either heal or align it with our goals.

Hard resets can exist in a lot of different parts of our lives. Such as mine, where my health seemed to indicate my immune system was weakened due to poor diet and stress. Or in friendships, if you notice what you have started to clash with your friends, it may be time to look at yourself and consider not only why it is occurring, but how to work through it moving forward. With jobs it can be that you are losing passion in what you are doing and need to either reignite it or move on.

Living intentionally and mindfully, you are going to notice when things are simply not functioning the way they should or could. With your intentions set to some form of improvement, implementing hard resets can be beneficial to realign the malfunctioning parts of your life.

The hard part of the hard reset is that usually it demands pretty substantial focus and effort. To completely shift a part of your life, well it is not going to come naturally. A lot of experts say it takes about 21 days for new habits to become a bit more natural as opposed to forced.

So, be patient with yourself. Hard resets are a great tool to completely reinvigorate something, but you probably should be realistic with how many hard resets you put on yourself at a time.
