Facing Difficulties Head-On

Today reminded me of how despite having everything covered, sometimes shit just happens.

The most recent episode of the podcast, the episode I was hoping to launch with, well… I found out that the audio quality was not even close to the standard I’ve established. Somehow through out the process, technological issues occurred and now I’m left with one of the most important files being unusable.

I panicked, I worried, I blamed, I paced, I groaned, and I felt it. I felt the failure and I sat with the disappointment.

Then I took a breath.

I figured out a solution.

And I figured out a back up plan.

And I breathed.

Yes, it’s infuriating and frustrating and devastating. But, it doesn’t need to end there. It can be a lesson, an experience, an obstacle to overcome and learn from.

As of right now, I am still unsure of how it will come out and I am way behind schedule. But, I know I am handling it. I am not giving up or frozen in fear. And now I know yet another thing to be aware of and how to handle it.

When facing major difficulty or disappointment, it’s so alluring to let it overcome you. Take it as a sign to give up or procrastinate. But, these obstacles are the growth. Without growth, where is the progress, where is the bloom?

In these moments; feel that fucking mess. Feel the feelings. Sit with it. And then come up with two plans of action and get to them.

The problem will not go away, you have to face it and move on. Take a breath and figure it out.

And then grow with new strength and awareness.
