Spring Cleaning

The sun has finally been out a little later, the ice has melted, and though winter isn’t quite over, we feel the hope for Spring.

In our house, Spring cleaning is a huge event. My partner swears that all our problems are caused by the clutter and grime. It’s an on going joke that when we clean something that’s been neglected, “that’s been the issue all along.”

Maybe it’s because this was our first Pennsylvanian winter ad opposed to the mild Florida ones we have been used to, but this year I do feel like Spring cleaning is truly that powerful.

So why only leave it to inside the house? Can we Spring clean our entire life?

Yes, I want to deep clean the walls and floors. I want to organize cabinets and the basement and the cars. But, I want to do more. Because clutter exists in all forms.

For example, there is digital clutter. Like how many random screenshots or time sensitive photos do I have on my devices that I don’t need anymore? Or unused files and apps. I have to scroll through them, they cause extra effort and when I am out of storage, it causes technical inconveniences. That deserves a Spring cleaning.

Or social media. My algorithm shows things I don’t want and hides the things I do, maybe it’s time to reprogram it to align with my values and interests. Also who do I follow or who am I friends with? Perhaps I ought to cleanse that energy also.

But, let’s go even further. How can I Spring clean myself and my being? What are the thoughts and beliefs that are not suiting me? What are the resentments and grudges socially that are weighing me down? What are the habits that I need to pull away from?

It is time to purge and let go of all that is creating unnecessary clutter or grime. Inside and out. Imagine how incredible the first gorgeous day of Spring will feel with a clean slate in your whole life.

I need that.
